For projects involving hot items, the manufacturer recommends using cotton batting with Insul-Bright® to help absorb steam vapor. Insul-Bright® itself is breathable, which means steam vapor can pass through the material. Adding cotton batting provides an absorbent layer for projects such as oven mitts, pot holders, casserole cozies, tea cozies, table runners, and placemats.
